Heiress Abigail Disney announced she will resume her financial support for the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

Earlier this month, Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, declared that she would halt donations to the party until Biden stepped down. In a recent email to CNBC, she confirmed her renewed support, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

When she made her earlier announcement, Disney expressed her endorsement of Harris, asserting that the Vice President deserves more trust from the Democratic Party. “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she stated.

Disney’s dissatisfaction with Biden grew after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump, leading her and other prominent Democratic donors to withdraw their support. Reports indicate that the discontent among major donors played a role in Biden’s decision to exit the race. Notably, billionaire George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, have also backed Harris following Biden’s withdrawal.
