Abigail Disney, an heiress and granddaughter of one of the co-founders of The Walt Disney Company, has announced that she will resume her financial contributions to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race.

Earlier this month, Disney stated she would cease her donations until the party replaced Biden at the top of the ticket. In a recent email to CNBC, she confirmed her intention to support the party again, praising Biden’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

When she initially declared her intention to withhold donations, Disney expressed her strong support for Harris, highlighting the Vice President’s qualifications. She criticized the Democratic Party for not rallying around Harris in the same way they tolerated Biden’s perceived shortcomings, suggesting that if they could unite, they could achieve a significant electoral victory.

Disney was among a group of prominent Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden, especially after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from influential donors contributed to Biden’s decision to step back from the race.

Notably, billionaire donor George Soros and his son Alex also voiced their support for Harris following Biden’s announcement.
