Abigail Disney Revives Donations: Is Kamala Harris the Future?

Abigail Disney, heir to the Disney legacy, has announced that she will recommence her financial contributions to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 election.

Earlier this month, Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, stated that she would cease her donations until there was a new candidate at the top of the Democratic ticket. In a recent email to CNBC, she confirmed her renewed support, noting her backing of Vice President Kamala Harris as a viable presidential candidate.

When she first declared her intention to halt donations, Disney expressed her endorsement of Harris, emphasizing the Vice President’s capabilities. She argued that if the Democratic Party could rally behind Harris and overlook any perceived flaws as readily as they tolerated Biden’s issues, the party could secure a significant victory in the upcoming election.

Disney was among a group of major Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden’s performance, particularly after a poor debate against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that the pressure from high-profile donors contributed to Biden’s decision to step aside. Additionally, prominent figures like George Soros and his son Alex have also shown their support for Harris following Biden’s exit from the race.
