Abigail Disney Revives Democratic Donations: Harris Takes the Lead!

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced her decision to resume donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race. Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, previously stated she would halt her contributions until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket.

On Monday, in an email to CNBC, she confirmed her renewed support, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” now that Biden has dropped out and given his endorsement to Vice President Kamala Harris.

When she first revealed her decision to pause donations, Disney expressed her backing for Harris. She commented on the Vice President’s capabilities, noting, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among a group of high-profile Democratic donors who criticized Biden after a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from major donors and diminishing funds contributed to Biden’s decision to step back from the race. Notably, billionaire George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also endorsed Harris following Biden’s announcement.
