Abigail Disney Revives Democratic Donations After Biden’s Exit: What’s Next for Harris?

Heir to the Disney legacy, Abigail Disney, has announced she will renew her contributions to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has exited the race for reelection.

Earlier this month, Disney stated she would halt her donations until a new candidate replaced Biden at the top of the ticket. Following Biden’s withdrawal and endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor, she confirmed her decision to resume support in an email to CNBC on Monday.

When she initially paused her donations, Disney expressed her backing for Harris, stating, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden, particularly following his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from key donors and a decline in financial support contributed to Biden’s decision to step down.

Notably, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, have also endorsed Harris since Biden’s announcement to withdraw from the presidential race.
