Abigail Disney Reverses Course: Donor Support Returns to Democrats!

Abigail Disney, heiress and granddaughter of the co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, has announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has decided not to seek reelection.

Earlier this month, Disney had stated that she would halt contributions to the party unless Biden stepped down from the candidate position. However, following Biden’s announcement and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency, Disney confirmed via email to CNBC that she would restart her financial support.

When she initially decided to withhold her donations, Disney expressed her support for Harris, stating, “We have an excellent Vice President.” She emphasized that if the Democratic Party could accept Harris’s perceived shortcomings as easily as they had tolerated those of Biden, they would be better positioned to win the upcoming election.

Disney was among a group of influential Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden, particularly after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from major donors and a decline in fundraising contributed to Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race.

Following Biden’s exit, prominent financier George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their support for Harris.
