Abigail Disney Reverses Course: Donating to Democrats Again!

Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will return to donating to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has withdrawn from the presidential race.

Disney, whose grandfather was a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, had previously stated that she would cease all contributions to the party until Biden stepped aside. In an email to CNBC, she confirmed, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s decision to back Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

When Disney first made the announcement to halt her donations, she also expressed her support for Harris. She noted, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who expressed discontent with Biden after his underwhelming debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from major donors and a decrease in funding played a role in Biden’s decision to step back from the campaign.

Following Biden’s withdrawal, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also voiced their support for Kamala Harris.
