Abigail Disney Rejoins Democratic Donors: What’s Next for Harris?

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has withdrawn from the presidential race.

Disney, who is the granddaughter of one of the co-founders of The Walt Disney Company, previously stated she would halt her contributions to the party until a new candidate was selected to lead the ticket.

In a recent email to CNBC, she confirmed her decision, saying, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s exit and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

When she first announced her decision to stop donations, she expressed her support for Harris, emphasizing the vice president’s qualifications. Disney criticized the Democratic Party for not fully backing Harris despite her capabilities, suggesting that if the party could unite around Harris, they would have a strong chance of winning the election.

Disney was among many prominent Democratic donors who became disillusioned with Biden after his poor performance in a debate against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from high-profile donors and a decline in financial support contributed to Biden’s decision to step back from the race.

Following Biden’s announcement, notable philanthropists such as George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their support for Harris.
