Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will restart her donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision not to seek reelection. Disney, the granddaughter of a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, previously stated she would cease contributions until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket.

In a message to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her return to supporting the party, now that Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency. Earlier, in her initial announcement to withhold donations, Disney expressed strong backing for Harris.

“We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she remarked.

Disney’s criticism of Biden came after what many viewed as a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump, leading to unrest among elite donors in the party. Reports suggest that donor pressure and declining contributions contributed to Biden’s decision to step back from the race.

Notably, influential donors George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their support for Harris after Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential contest.
