Abigail Disney Rejoins Democratic Donors After Biden’s Exit: What’s Next for Harris?

Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will resume her financial support for the Democratic Party after President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the reelection race.

In earlier statements, Disney expressed her intent to halt donations to the party until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket. However, in an email to CNBC, she confirmed her renewed support, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor in the presidential campaign.

Disney had previously voiced her backing for Harris and remarked on the need for Democrats to embrace her candidacy. “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she asserted.

Her discontent with Biden was shared by several prominent Democratic donors, who reacted strongly to his disappointing debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from this donor class contributed to Biden’s decision to exit the race.

Following Biden’s announcement, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their support for Harris.
