“Abigail Disney Rejoins Democratic Donors: A Bold Shift Amid Biden’s Exit”

Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has ended his reelection campaign.

Earlier this month, Disney, whose grandfather helped establish The Walt Disney Company, stated she would cease contributions to the party until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket. In an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her decision, saying, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s withdrawal and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

When she initially announced her decision to withhold funds, Disney expressed her support for Harris. She remarked, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity), and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who became disillusioned with Biden after his poor performance in a debate against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from the donor class and a decrease in funding contributed to Biden’s decision to exit the race. George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their endorsement of Harris following the announcement of Biden’s withdrawal.
