Abigail Disney Rejoins Democratic Donor Class Amid Biden’s Exit

Abigail Disney, the heiress and granddaughter of a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has decided not to seek reelection.

Earlier this month, Disney had stated that she would cease contributions until the party replaced Biden as the candidate. However, in an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her decision to support the party again, following Biden’s withdrawal and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidential run.

When Disney first announced her withholding of donations, she expressed her support for Harris, praising her as an excellent Vice President. She pointed out that if the Democratic Party could rally around Harris and address perceived shortcomings with the same tolerance they had for Biden, they could significantly increase their chances of winning the upcoming election.

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that both donor pressure and declining financial support contributed to Biden’s decision to step back. Following Biden’s announcement, notable figures such as George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also voiced their support for Harris.
