Heiress Abigail Disney has announced that she will resume her financial support for the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has decided not to seek reelection.

Earlier this month, Disney, who is the granddaughter of a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, stated that she would halt her contributions to the party until a change was made at the presidential nomination. In an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her return to supporting the party, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s decision to step down and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

When she initially announced her pause on donations, Disney also expressed her backing for Harris. She remarked, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s—let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity—and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among a group of prominent Democratic donors who criticized Biden after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that pressure from wealthy donors and a decline in funds contributed to Biden’s decision to exit the presidential race. Notably, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their support for Harris following Biden’s announcement.
