Abigail Disney, an heiress and granddaughter of one of the co-founders of The Walt Disney Company, announced that she will restart her donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race for reelection.

Previously, Disney had stated that she would pause her financial support for the party until a new candidate replaced Biden at the top of the ticket. However, with Biden’s exit and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor, Disney expressed her willingness to resume her contributions in an email to CNBC.

When she initially decided to halt her donations, Disney publicly expressed her backing for Harris, highlighting the Vice President’s qualifications. She commented on the disparities in how Democrats respond to perceived shortcomings, suggesting that if the party could unite behind Harris, they would be in a strong position to win the upcoming election.

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who reacted negatively to Biden’s performance in debates against former President Donald Trump, which led to increased pressure on the President and contributed to his decision not to seek reelection. Following Biden’s announcement, notable Democratic figures such as George Soros and his son Alex Soros also endorsed Harris.
