ABC has officially launched its new local affiliate in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market, beginning operations this Monday. This development follows an agreement reached in March between Disney Entertainment and Sunbeam Television Corporation.
As part of the arrangement, ABC’s programming, including national sports, news, and entertainment content, will now be available over-the-air on Channel 7.2 in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, with additional access through local Channel 18.
Susi D’Ambra Coplan, senior vice president of affiliate relations at Disney Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about this new partnership. She highlighted both companies’ shared commitment to serving local communities and emphasized the value of ABC’s brand and its ongoing investments in quality network content.
Paul Magnes, co-president of Sunbeam Television Corporation, shared similar sentiments, reflecting on the significance of this collaboration. He noted that their family-owned company has been a part of the South Florida community for nearly 70 years, with a steadfast dedication to local news and support for non-profit organizations in the region.
This partnership is a promising development for viewers in South Florida, as it combines the rich heritage of Sunbeam Television with the established reputation of ABC, ensuring access to quality programming while maintaining a focus on community support and local engagement.
