Alex Rodriguez, a celebrated former MLB star and World Series champion, has shared honest reflections on his brief foray into acting during a recent episode of his sports podcast “Throwbacks.” While discussing his guest appearance in the final season of HBO’s “Entourage,” he humorously acknowledged his shortcomings as an actor, stating, “How atrocious of an actor I am.”

The former New York Yankees player recounted filming his cameo at Yankee Stadium, remarking on the enjoyment of the experience despite his self-critique. “It was fun, though. We had a blast. That was such a cool moment,” Rodriguez recalled, highlighting that his opportunity arose following the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship victory. He emphasized the significance of that championship, noting the unparalleled joy of winning a title in New York City, calling the show a pioneering force in entertainment.

As the conversation progressed, Rodriguez also reflected on his journey since that memorable appearance, particularly with the upcoming release of his documentary “Alex v AROD,” set to air on HBO Max on November 6. He described the documentary as a deep and emotional exploration of his life, stating, “It took me fifteen years to process and retell my life in a documentary… I wasn’t ready to like be so raw.”

Rodriguez candidly discussed the challenges he faced, particularly the impact of his suspension during the 2014 season amid a performance-enhancing drug scandal. “A part of me died when I got suspended, and it cost me the Hall of Fame,” he admitted, taking responsibility for his past decisions. However, he also expressed a sense of growth from that difficult period, crediting therapy with helping him become a better person, father, and friend.

The upcoming docuseries promises to provide an insightful look at Rodriguez’s life and the lessons he has learned over the years, showcasing his resilience and personal evolution. It could serve as an inspiring tale of redemption for many viewers, reinforcing the notion that one can emerge stronger from their struggles.
