Gina-Maria Schumacher, the daughter of Formula 1 icon Michael Schumacher, has released her first statement following reports of her father’s rare public appearance at her wedding, marking his first such event in over ten years. Michael Schumacher has largely remained out of the public eye since a severe skiing accident in 2013 left him in a prolonged coma.
While the family’s updates on his health have been minimal, recent accounts suggest that he was present at Gina-Maria’s wedding in Majorca.
The 27-year-old Gina-Maria took to Instagram shortly after the ceremony to share a photo with her husband, Iain Bethke. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony at the family’s villa in Majorca, with a small group of guests who honored the family’s desire for discretion.
The elegant villa, where the wedding occurred, was acquired by Gina-Maria in 2017 for approximately £27 million from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
To ensure privacy and prevent any public exposure for Schumacher, the wedding ceremony lasted around 30 minutes and occurred in the afternoon at approximately 4 PM. Guests were required to adhere to strict guidelines, including leaving their phones and cameras outside, to avoid capturing any images or videos of the Formula 1 legend.
Gina-Maria and Iain, who are both passionate about horses, initially met at a stable and have centered their lives around equestrian activities.
Michael Schumacher’s daughter has established a successful career as both a horse owner and rider, a pursuit she shares with her mother, Corinna Betsch.
