Born on July 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, Troupe began his artistic journey performing in local theater. He honed his craft in New York City during the late 1940s, where he received mentorship from the legendary actress Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio. After serving in the Korean War and earning a Bronze Star, he made his Broadway debut in 1957, portraying Peter van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank.
In 1958, Troupe relocated to Los Angeles, which led to a flourishing Hollywood career. His television appearances spanned classics such as Lawman, Dr. Kildare, Mission: Impossible, and Cheers, confirming his versatility and talent over decades.
In film, he was part of notable projects like the comedy Summer School, Clint Eastwood’s Kelly’s Heroes, and The Devil’s Brigade, further showcasing his acting range.
On stage, Troupe collaborated frequently with his wife, Carole Cook, a fellow Broadway performer who also passed away in 2023. Troupe is survived by his son Christopher and daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, as well as granddaughter Ashley and several nieces and nephews.
