Tom Troupe, the esteemed actor known for his extensive work on both stage and screen, has passed away at the age of 97 from natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills. His publicist, Harlan Boll, confirmed the news along with various media outlets.

Troupe enjoyed a prolific career that spanned from the mid-1950s until the late 2010s, featuring roles in more than 75 television series and notable productions on Broadway. His impressive credits included appearances in the iconic original series of Star Trek and the acclaimed film My Own Private Idaho, alongside River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves.

Born on July 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, Troupe began his artistic journey performing in local theater. He honed his craft in New York City during the late 1940s, where he received mentorship from the legendary actress Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio. After serving in the Korean War and earning a Bronze Star, he made his Broadway debut in 1957, portraying Peter van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank.

In 1958, Troupe relocated to Los Angeles, which led to a flourishing Hollywood career. His television appearances spanned classics such as Lawman, Dr. Kildare, Mission: Impossible, and Cheers, confirming his versatility and talent over decades.

In film, he was part of notable projects like the comedy Summer School, Clint Eastwood’s Kelly’s Heroes, and The Devil’s Brigade, further showcasing his acting range.

On stage, Troupe collaborated frequently with his wife, Carole Cook, a fellow Broadway performer who also passed away in 2023. Together, they starred in productions including The Lion in Winter and were honored with the Theatre Ovation Award for Career Achievement in 2002, making history as the first husband-and-wife duo to receive this accolade.

Troupe is survived by his son Christopher and daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, as well as granddaughter Ashley and several nieces and nephews. His legacy in the entertainment industry will be fondly remembered, reflecting the depth of his talent and the meaningful connections he formed throughout his life.
