However, Michael Schur, the creator of “The Good Place,” is bringing a fresh perspective with his charming new comedy “A Man on the Inside,” featuring veteran actor Ted Danson. This delightful whodunit explores themes of grief, love, and the thrill of new beginnings through the lens of senior citizens.
“A Man on the Inside” is inspired by Maite Alberdi’s Academy Award-nominated documentary “The Mole Agent.” The story revolves around Charles, played by Danson, a retired widower leading a mundane life in San Francisco. Concerns about his well-being prompt his adult daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) to encourage him to take up a new hobby. After responding to a help-wanted ad, Charles finds himself working for Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), a private detective investigating the theft of an expensive necklace at a retirement community. Julie recruits Charles to go undercover at the upscale Pacific View Retirement Home, where he uncovers unexpected surprises.
With eight 30-minute episodes, “A Man on the Inside” is designed to entertain.
