The husband of one of the victims of a recent shooting and stabbing spree in Tel Aviv has recounted his harrowing search for his wife and their infant amidst a missile barrage. Yeari Vigder described how, while Iranian missiles fell on the city, he went from house to house calling out for his wife, Inbar Segev-Vigder, who was holding their 9-month-old baby.
Inbar, a 30-year-old fitness instructor, was commuting on the light rail in Tel Aviv’s Jaffa district when the attack began. Yeari reported that she was shot while carrying their son in a baby carrier. Upon arriving at the attack site, he discovered their family dog, who had been shot, but neither Inbar nor their baby was found.
While missiles were falling around him, Vigder desperately continued his search along the bloodied streets. He eventually located his son, Ari, at a nearby children’s hospital where he was being treated in a safety room, unharmed. “Ari has no scratch on his body,” Vigder said, calling it a miracle.
He expressed deep sorrow for his wife, stating, “She was everything for us. We loved her so much. We still love her.” The attack on Jerusalem Boulevard resulted in injuries to sixteen others. This incident occurred just moments before Iran launched a significant missile strike on Israel, prompting widespread alarms and the public seeking shelter.
Israeli authorities identified the attackers as Muhammad Mask, 19, killed at the scene, and Ahmed Himoni, 25, who was critically injured. Both were reported to be from Hebron, a Palestinian city in the contested West Bank. Hamas has since claimed responsibility for the assault.
