A Dream Come True: Tara Archibald Joins Her Father at Texas Tech

Tara Archibald has taken on a remarkable opportunity by joining her father, Gerry Glasco, on the coaching staff at Texas Tech, marking their shared journey into the realm of collegiate softball. Initially, Archibald did not foresee a potential collaboration with her dad, especially after leading the Eastern Illinois Panthers as head coach. However, when Glasco assumed the role of head coach at Texas Tech, the possibility reemerged.

While Archibald had relegated the idea of coaching alongside her father to the back of her mind, she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity that has materialized. She now plays a crucial role in managing one of the top pitching staffs in the nation and mentoring standout pitcher NiJaree Canady.

Reflecting on the unique experience after Texas Tech’s dramatic 3-2 win over Oklahoma in the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s College World Series, Archibald described it as “a dream come true.” This season not only brought achievement in the tournament but also the cherished opportunity to share the dugout with her father—a moment filled with personal significance for both.

Her father, Gerry Glasco, has highlighted the special bond they share, alongside the pride of having all his daughters involved in the Women’s College World Series, something Tara was unable to experience as a player, unlike her sisters Erin and the late Gery Ann. The Archibald family’s journey in softball continues to create lasting memories, as Tara emphasized, “To get to go through the year we’ve had together, yeah, memories that I’ll cherish forever.”

This article encapsulates a family’s profound connection through sports and highlights the joy and fulfillment derived from shared experiences. It’s a narrative that reflects not only achievement but the values of family, teamwork, and the realization of dreams.
