ARLINGTON, Va. – The 50th Annual Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is set to take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, and officials are advising the public about anticipated traffic disruptions and safety measures associated with the event. The marathon will kick off at 7:20 a.m., preceded by the wheelchair and hand cycle divisions at 7:15 a.m. and duos at 7:17 a.m., all starting on Route 110 in Arlington County, Virginia. A coordinated effort involving the Arlington County Police Department, Virginia State Police, United States Park Police, and the Pentagon Force Protection Agency will result in various road closures throughout Arlington and parts of Washington, D.C.
Starting from approximately 3:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., several roads will be closed in Arlington. Key closures include Fort Myer Drive, N. Lynn Street, Wilson Boulevard, and various other streets that will impact traffic flow in and around the area. Some streets will have closures at different times, particularly from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., including 19th Street N., Langston Boulevard, and N. Lorcom Lane.
Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and should consider using public transportation to reach the event. The Metro service will operate starting at 5:00 a.m. on race day, with the closest stations to the start line being Pentagon and Pentagon City. Runners and spectators are encouraged to utilize ridesharing services, with designated drop-off and pick-up zones established nearby.
Given enhanced security measures for the marathon’s 50th anniversary, spectator access will be strictly limited. Attendees are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement personnel stationed throughout the race route or call 911 in case of emergencies.
