McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. A majority of the U.S. locations have agreed to keep the promotion active beyond its original four-week period, which began on June 25.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the nation, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some extending it until August.
This initiative comes at a time when consumers are facing high food prices, especially at fast casual dining establishments. The $5 bundle appears to be beneficial for McDonald’s, as recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates a significant increase in visitors to its restaurants following the promotion’s launch.
The success of the McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotional offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond McDonald’s promotion period and is planning to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
