McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be available for a few additional weeks, extending beyond its original four-week period that started on June 25. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, most U.S. locations have agreed to continue this promotion, which will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, though the duration may vary by location; some franchises are expected to offer the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the $5 bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s after the promotion was introduced, highlighting its appeal to budget-conscious diners.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted rival fast casual restaurants to launch their own competitive deals. Arby’s introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, unveiled a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In response, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” and announced plans for new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag” as part of its promotional efforts.
