49ers Secure All-Pro Fred Warner with Record-Breaking Deal!

The San Francisco 49ers have solidified their roster by securing a three-year contract extension with All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner, making him the highest-paid off-ball linebacker in NFL history. The deal is reported to be worth $63 million, keeping Warner with the team through the 2029 season, and includes more than $56 million in guaranteed money.

This extension follows recent agreements with other key players, including quarterback Brock Purdy, who signed a five-year, $265 million extension, and tight end George Kittle, whose contract is worth $76.4 million over four years. These strategic contracts aim to avoid the contract controversies that the 49ers have faced in recent years, particularly with players like receiver Brandon Aiyuk and defensive end Nick Bosa.

Warner’s previous contract was lucrative in its own right, as he was signed to a five-year, $95 million deal in 2021, which was still one of the richest for an off-ball linebacker until now. His new average of $21 million per year surpasses the previous record held by Baltimore’s Roquan Smith at $20 million.

Demonstrating his prowess on the field, Warner has been a first-team All-Pro for four of the last five seasons and was integral to the 49ers’ defensive success, recording impressive stats even while dealing with injuries. Last season, he logged 131 tackles, two interceptions, and four forced fumbles, showcasing his capability despite playing with a broken bone in his ankle.

In seven seasons, Warner has amassed a total of 896 tackles, ranking fourth in the NFL since 2018, and has proven to be one of the most versatile players with at least 10 sacks, interceptions, and forced fumbles in his career.

This positive move not only reflects the 49ers’ commitment to strengthening their core team but also highlights Warner’s exceptional talent and contributions on the field. As the team heads into the summer, they anticipate a drama-free contract period, enhancing expectations for success in the upcoming season.
