San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall missed the team’s practice on Thursday as they prepare for their upcoming Monday Night Football game. Pearsall is dealing with an ankle injury and has aggravated a pre-existing posterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee.
Despite the setback, head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed optimism regarding Pearsall’s recovery, noting that the additional day off this week could be beneficial. “He’s doing a lot better today than he was on Monday, and the extra day will help,” Shanahan said, emphasizing that Pearsall has a chance to play.
Several other key players also sat out Thursday’s practice, including offensive guard Spencer Burford, defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, linebacker Nick Martin, running back Christian McCaffrey, and offensive tackle Trent Williams, all managing various injuries or taking rest days.
In terms of limited participation, linebacker Tatum Bethune is dealing with an ankle issue, while cornerback Renardo Green is managing a neck concern. Defensive ends Yetur Gross-Matos and Sam Okuayinonu also faced limitations due to hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.
As the 49ers approach their game, the focus remains on recovery and ensuring their players are fit to contribute. The team’s resilience and depth will be crucial as they navigate these injury challenges.
