49ers Gear Up for Playoff Push: Will Guerendo Shine?

Tyler Fulghum has expressed strong confidence in the San Francisco 49ers as they prepare for their Week 15 clash against the Los Angeles Rams. The anticipation builds as the 49ers look to bolster their playoff chances.

In an encouraging development, rookie running back Isaac Guerendo will be active for Thursday night’s game despite battling a sprained foot. After being listed as questionable, Guerendo expressed that he “feels good,” indicating his readiness to contribute.

Another positive note for the 49ers is the activation of linebacker Dre Greenlaw from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, marking his return after suffering a torn Achilles in last season’s Super Bowl. Additionally, defensive end Nick Bosa will also play after recovering from a left hip and oblique injury that kept him out for the last three games.

However, the team will be without key players such as left tackle Trent Williams (ankle), safety Malik Mustapha (chest, shoulder), and guard Ben Bartch, who has been placed on injured reserve. The 49ers, with a record of 6-7, are in desperate need of a victory to reinvigorate their playoff aspirations.

Guerendo stepped up as the starting running back after injuries sidelined Christian McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell, and Jordan Mason. In his previous game against the Chicago Bears, Guerendo made an impressive debut, accumulating 78 rushing yards and two touchdowns, complemented by two receptions for 50 yards before his injury.

Should Guerendo be limited in his performance, Patrick Taylor Jr. is next in line for carries, with practice squad options Ke’Shawn Vaughn and recent addition Israel Abanikanda available as backups.

Guerendo’s notable first start has already etched his name into 49ers history, as he became the fourth player in the franchise to achieve over 100 scrimmage yards and at least two touchdowns in his initial game, joining the ranks of Carlos Hyde, Earl Cooper, and Hugh McElhenny.

As the 49ers face the Rams, the return of key players and the resilience of their rookie running back provide a hopeful outlook for their quest to return to playoff contention. The team’s determination could herald a turnaround as they strive for success in the remaining weeks of the season.
