A moderate earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck just 36 kilometers south of Bucaramanga, Colombia, late Wednesday night, on October 15, 2025, at 11:11 PM local time. The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) informed that the quake occurred at a substantial depth of 149 kilometers beneath the surface.

Residents in nearby areas, including Jordan, Piedecuesta, and Floridablanca, may have experienced very weak shaking. Jordan, located just 9 kilometers from the epicenter, has a small population of 110, while larger towns such as Piedecuesta (163,400) and Floridablanca (267,600) are further away at 22 and 29 kilometers, respectively. Other towns within the region that could have felt the tremor include San Gil, Giron, and Malaga, among others.
