2XKO Season 0 Begins with PC Early Access as Riot Teases 10th Champion

Riot Games is set to expand the reach of its highly anticipated tag fighter, 2XKO, with early access commencing on October 7. Previously known as Project L, the game was exclusive to a closed beta, but now welcomes all PC players, marking the start of ‘Season 0.’ Unfortunately for console players, the game remains unavailable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no set timeline for a multi-platform release.

Amidst the excitement, Riot has teased the introduction of the game’s 10th champion, maintaining an air of mystery despite hints from a recent datamine showing characters such as Braum, Yasuo, Darius, and the mascot Teemo in new costumes. Riot’s playful response to the leak leaves players eagerly anticipating the new character’s debut at the early access launch.

Early access players will have the chance to carry over all earned cosmetics, champions, and rewards to the full game release, projected for some time beyond 2026. The upcoming year promises five additional seasons, each introducing a new champion alongside fresh cosmetic rewards, gradually enhancing the game’s roster.

Riot’s commitment to elevating 2XKO into a competitive sensation is evident with its debut at EVO France shortly after early access begins. Despite concerns surrounding sportswashing, especially with the Esports World Cup and EVO’s recent acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya, Riot emphasizes community-led tournaments, augmenting prize pots from a distance. This approach strikes a hopeful balance, supporting grassroots competition while fostering excitement around 2XKO’s potential in the tournament scene.
