The 2024 All-Star Week begins on Sunday night with the MLB draft, featuring the selection of players in the first two rounds.
Hosted ahead of Monday’s Home Run Derby and Tuesday’s All-Star Game between the National and American leagues, Sunday’s MLB draft sees the Cleveland Guardians with the No. 1 overall pick.
The Guardians selected Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana with their top pick. Bazzana, who completed his third season at Oregon State, had an impressive .407 batting average, 28 home runs, and 76 RBIs.
There are 30 picks in the first round, followed by nine additional picks for promotion incentives, compensation, and Competitive Balance Round A selections before the second round.

7:48 p.m.: The New York Mets picked Oklahoma State’s Carson Benge at No. 29. Benge shone as a two-way player, hitting 18 home runs and maintaining a 3.16 ERA in 37 innings on the mound.
7:37 p.m.: PJ Morlando, a South Carolina commit, was picked No. 16 by the Miami Marlins. He excelled in high school home run derbies and received the MVP award at the High School All-American Game last July.

7:18 p.m.: The San Francisco Giants picked James Tibbs III, an outfielder from Florida State, at No. 13. Tibbs is a polished hitter with potential to quickly advance in the Giants system.
7:11 p.m.: The Red Sox may have gotten a steal with Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery at No. 12. Montgomery had a season-ending ankle injury in the super regional.
7:06 p.m.: High school player Bryce Rainer from Harvard-Westlake High School in California was selected by the Detroit Tigers.
7:01 p.m.: The Nationals selected Wake Forest shortstop Seaver King at No. 10, marking three Demon Deacons in the top 10.
6:55 p.m.: The Pirates picked Konnor Griffin, their first high school prospect, with tools that might turn him into a star.
6:51 p.m.: The Los Angeles Angels picked Tennessee second baseman Christian Moore, known for their fast promotion of prospects.
6:44 p.m.: The St. Louis Cardinals selected West Virginia shortstop J.J. Wetherholt at No. 7, a potential top overall pick.
6:39 p.m.: Jac Caglianone was picked at No. 6 by the Kansas City Royals, recognized for his power hitting.
