“2024 Emmy Nominations: Records Broken and Exciting Surprises!”

Leading the 2024 Emmy nominations announced on Wednesday morning, FX’s series “Shogun” tops the list with 25 nominations, including Best Drama Series, setting multiple records along the way.

Other top nominees include FX’s “The Bear” with 23 nominations, Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” with 21, HBO/Max’s “True Detective: Night Country” with 19, and Netflix’s “The Crown” with 18.

Overall, Netflix leads all nominations with a total of 107 across 35 programs, followed by FX with 93 across nine programs, HBO with 91 across 29 programs, and Apple TV+ with 72 across 16 programs. The Walt Disney Co. amassed a personal-best of 183 nominations across its platforms including FX, ABC, Hulu, and Disney+.

Tony Hale, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego revealed this year’s nominees during a live ceremony from the El Capitan Theatre. During the livestream, Ralph was informed that she received another Emmy nomination this year for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, an accolade she won in 2022.

The 76th Emmy Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. The Creative Arts ceremonies, where most Emmy trophies are presented, will take place on Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8. No host has been announced for the main ABC ceremony, but Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay will return as executive producers for the telecast.

The 2023 Emmys were held in January 2024 due to the 2023 writers and actors strikes, broadcasting on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. At that event, HBO’s “Succession” and FX’s “The Bear” were among the major winners.

To be eligible for the 2024 Emmys, TV programs had to air between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.
