With the 2026 cricket season quickly approaching, 16-year-old Jasvil Rokoro is eager to demonstrate her capability to be a valuable member of the national team for Cricket Fiji. While some may speculate that her position in the national squads over the past two years is due to her lineage—being the daughter of Cricket Fiji’s chief executive officer, Sitiveni Rokoro—Jasvil is determined to show that her skills and dedication are what truly earned her selection.
“I know there are people who talk about me getting into the national teams through ‘backdoor’ methods,” she expressed. “But I’m going to work hard to prove that I earned my place.”
Jasvil made her international debut while representing Fiji in a tournament in Indonesia as part of the under-19 women’s team. This led to her inclusion in the national women’s team for another tournament at the same venue earlier this year. Additionally, she showcased her talent as part of the national side that competed in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier held in Albert Park, Suva.
As Rokoro prepares for the upcoming season, her focus remains on refining her skills and contributing positively to her team. Her story is one of resilience and ambition, illustrating that with hard work, one can rise above skepticism and carve a niche in the competitive world of cricket.
