The New Jersey Lottery announced that this significant prize is one of three top rewards available in the game, awarded to players who match numbers corresponding to winning ones.
The fortunate winner bought the ticket at Lucky 7 Deli in Nutley after a playful debate with their spouse over which store to visit for the purchase. Despite initially having differing opinions, they ended up with a $10 ticket and a couple of $3 tickets.
The winning scratch-off required players to match their numbers with the winning numbers, and a “10X” symbol can multiply prizes substantially. The winner, initially expecting just a “free ticket,” experienced overwhelming shock upon discovering the actual prize value. “I scratched the ticket. I saw the prize. I thought it was going to say ‘free ticket.’ It just didn’t click with me,” they shared.
In selecting the annuity option for the prize, the couple will receive a total payout of at least $1.5 million distributed over 25 years. Alternatively, the cash option would have provided a lump sum of about $875,200.
