Von Miller Hints at Staying With Commanders After 2025 Deal

Von Miller is looking to extend his illustrious football career, recently signing a one-year contract to play with the Washington Commanders in 2025. The future Hall of Famer expressed his desire to remain with the team during an episode of his new podcast, Free Range. “Hopefully I can still be here with the Washington Commanders,” Miller stated, highlighting his positive outlook on the team’s coaching staff, particularly mentioning Dan Quinn. He believes that with the right environment, he can certainly continue to play next year.

Miller’s journey in the NFL has seen its ups and downs. After being traded from the Denver Broncos to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, he went on to win his second Super Bowl. His subsequent signing with the Buffalo Bills for a six-year, $120 million contract gave fans high hopes. However, that promise was cut short when an ACL tear sidelined him, and he struggled to regain his previous form upon return.

Recently released by the Bills, Miller found a new home with the Commanders, agreeing to a deal worth $6.1 million, with nearly $5 million guaranteed. Throughout the season, he has appeared in all nine games so far and has been effective, recording four sacks and playing about 35% of the team’s defensive snaps.

As the NFL trade deadline approached, there was speculation he might return to Buffalo, but no deal materialized. Instead, the Commanders decided not to make major trades, allowing Miller to finish his season in Washington and establishing a foundation for his market value going forward.

Looking ahead, it remains to be seen if both Miller and the Commanders will look to extend their partnership beyond this season. Nonetheless, if an opportunity arises, Miller’s retirement plans could be postponed for at least another year, showing his continued passion for the game. This situation provides both the player and the organization a chance to build a hopeful future together within the competitive NFL landscape.
