A man from Valelevu is currently recuperating following an alleged violent incident that left his family members and an employee injured. The victim, Zaheen Ali, reported that the assailant, believed to be intoxicated, attacked him and his family along with one of his employees on Sunday night in the Daniva area.

What was intended to be a peaceful evening quickly transformed into a frightening experience. Zaheen described the assault, saying, “He started violently abusing me, assaulting me, and my wife, who was inside, along with my three-year-old and my five-year-old children. The aggression he displayed was overwhelming, completely disregarding the presence of my kids.”

During the chaotic scene, Ali claimed that his family faced explicit threats, heightening their fear. He expressed his children’s distress, particularly his eldest son, who voiced concern about returning to public spaces, fearing for his safety. “Daddy, I don’t want to go outside because he might come back and he might kill me,” his son said, reflecting the terror that permeated their home after the incident.

The employee involved, Ro Miriama Rokoura, recounted her experience as well. She indicated that she was assaulted after an argument escalated, stating, “She grabbed my hand while her husband continuously punched me and threw my phone away.”

The alarming incident has been reported to the Valelevu Police Station, who are currently investigating the situation. This harrowing experience serves as a reminder of the impact of violence on families and communities, sparking discussions on the importance of safety and support for victims. As the community looks for healing and justice, the hope remains that such incidents can be prevented in the future.
