The No. 4 UConn men’s basketball team had an impressive week, achieving a perfect 2-0 record and earning a sweep of the BIG EAST weekly honors. Silas Demary Jr. celebrated his first Player of the Week award, while teammate Braylon Mullins received his second Freshman of the Week accolade. This marks a significant milestone for the Huskies, being the first time they have accomplished this feat since December 23, 2024.

Silas Demary Jr. achieved his first BIG EAST Player of the Week title after a remarkable performance on January 7, where he recorded 23 points, 15 assists, and five steals in an overtime victory against Providence. This astonishing game not only secured him a place in UConn’s history books for having the third-most assists in a single game but also made him part of an elite group in NCAA history with one of the few 20-point, 15-assist, and 5-steal games recorded. His contributions were crucial down the stretch, including a game-winning shot with just 10.4 seconds left in the thrilling 103-98 comeback.

In the matchup against DePaul on January 10, Demary Jr. maintained his high performance, scoring 14 points and providing a game-high four assists along with three steals, leading the Huskies to a 72-60 victory. Over his first six conference games, Demary Jr. has been averaging 11.8 points, showcasing his ability to assist with a league-leading 8.0 assists per game along with averages of 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals.

Braylon Mullins also shone brightly during the week, particularly during the game against Providence where he achieved a career-high of 24 points with an impressive 8-of-14 shooting, including six three-pointers in ten attempts. His significant contribution in overtime, scoring eight points in a critical span, helped propel UConn to their seventh consecutive win against the Friars.

In the following game against DePaul, Mullins led all scorers again with 16 points and grabbed a career-best seven rebounds. He showcased his shooting prowess, going 5-of-10 from the field and hitting 2-of-5 from beyond the arc while also contributing to the team defensively with three steals and two blocks. This season in league play, Mullins boasts averages of 14.0 points with an impressive shooting efficiency of 48.4% from the field and 43.9% from three-point range, along with 4.5 rebounds per game.

As the Huskies continue their journey, they look forward to their upcoming game against Seton Hall on Tuesday night, aiming to build on their momentum and maintain their strong position in the BIG EAST.
