As anticipation builds for the UB40 concert at King Charles Park in Nadi, police have implemented heightened security measures to ensure a safe experience for all attendees. Divisional Police Commander for the Western Division, SSP Iakobo Vaisewa, assured the public that law enforcement is well-prepared for the event and is focused on making it crime-free.
SSP Vaisewa stated, “We are fully gearing up for it, and our goal is to make it an incident-free and crime-free concert.” To achieve this objective, the police will utilize specialized resources, including the K9 unit and advanced surveillance technology. Attendees should expect thorough searches at entry points and may encounter spot checks on individuals deemed suspicious.
The police chief also emphasized the importance of avoiding illegal activities, particularly those related to alcohol, underscoring that law enforcement will remain vigilant throughout the festival. A conspicuous police presence will be established not only at the concert venue but also throughout Nadi Town, Namaka, and along the Lautoka corridor to maintain safety and order during the event.
