Tulane University’s men’s basketball team is gearing up for an important road trip this weekend to face the UAB Blazers in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday afternoon. This matchup follows a previous defeat for the Green Wave, who lost to UAB 82-69 earlier this season on January 14 at home. The game is scheduled to tip off at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU, with fans able to catch the action on the Tulane Sports Network via 106.7 The Ticket.

This encounter marks the 43rd meeting between Tulane and UAB, with the Green Wave trailing in the all-time series 14-28. Tulane’s performance on the road against UAB has been challenging, as they hold a 6-14 record at Bartow Arena and have lost their last two games played there. The last victory for the Green Wave in Birmingham came on February 15, 2014, when they won 86-80. In their most recent visit on January 7, 2025, Tulane fell 81-69.

Following a recent strong performance, Tulane is coming off an impressive victory over Temple, winning 77-66 at home. During the game, the Green Wave showcased their offensive prowess, executing a 20-4 run early in the second half while shooting an impressive 68.4 percent from the floor. The team also excelled defensively, limiting Temple to its lowest shooting percentage of the season at 33.0 percent. Tyler Ringgold starred for Tulane, scoring a career-high 22 points.

In terms of individual milestones, redshirt junior Rowan Brumbaugh is closing in on a significant achievement, being just 16 points away from reaching 1,000 points in his Tulane career. Across 58 games with the Green Wave, he has averaged 17.0 points per game, having previously surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his overall collegiate career in December against Louisiana Tech. To date, he has accumulated 984 points while playing for Tulane.

On the other side, UAB is entering the matchup riding a two-game winning streak. The Blazers defeated Tulsa 68-63 on the road on February 11, bringing their overall record to 16-9 and 7-5 within league play. However, UAB has struggled at home this season, with a 1-5 record in conference matches and an average of 73.0 points scored per game while allowing opponents to shoot 81.2 points per game on 46.3 percent shooting.

UAB features a potent scoring lineup, with four players averaging double figures: Chance Westry (14.9), Jacob Meyer (13.4), Daniel Rivera (11.8), and Kyeron Lindsay-Martin (11.5). Westry also leads the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.70 and ranks second in assists per game with 4.8.

After facing UAB, Tulane will head to Denton, Texas, for another rematch against North Texas on Thursday, February 19, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. on ESPN2. The Green Wave is determined to build on their recent success and overcome their prior setbacks in upcoming games.
