Authorities have confirmed the identities of the victims involved in the tragic train accident this morning in Mobile. The victims, 31-year-old Brittany Williams and her 8-year-old daughter, were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision, as stated by Blake Brown from Mobile’s Department of Public Safety.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the incident that occurred at a railroad crossing near Cary Hamilton Road at approximately 6:51 a.m. Brown reported that the crossing signals, including audible alerts, flashing lights, and crossing arms, were functioning correctly at the time of the collision. The train continued for about 2,100 feet before coming to a stop, with no injuries reported among the passengers aboard the train.

Earlier reports indicated that Mobile police and fire departments had received news of a vehicle being struck by an Amtrak train on Bellingrath Road near Peary Road. Initial investigations confirmed that two individuals in the vehicle were killed. Steven Millhouse of Mobile Fire-Rescue emphasized the devastating impact on the families affected and the broader community.

While there is currently no confirmation on the specific train involved, the train in question departed at 6:30 a.m. and may be part of the Amtrak Mardi Gras Service, which operates between Mobile and New Orleans. The investigation into the incidents is ongoing, with authorities working to gather more details.
