The Texas Longhorns’ football program is set to lose impactful wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. as he prepares to enter the transfer portal. Moore announced his decision on Instagram after an impressive three-season tenure with the Longhorns. His move comes on the heels of Texas missing out on a College Football Playoff berth this year, raising questions about his future plans, including potential entry into the 2026 NFL Draft.

During his time at Texas, Moore participated in 36 games, initially contributing primarily on special teams as a true freshman in 2023. However, he quickly made a name for himself in the following seasons, amassing significant statistics. In 2024, he recorded 39 receptions for 456 yards and found the end zone seven times. The following year, he improved his performance, collecting 38 catches for 532 yards and four touchdowns, trailing only Ryan Wingo on the team’s reception leaderboard.

Moore demonstrated his ability to shine in big games, tallying two 100-yard performances in the 2024 season, including a standout 9-catch, 114-yard game against Georgia and another impressive 4-catch, 104-yard outing against Mississippi State. His 2025 campaign included notable performances against Mississippi State and Sam Houston State, solidifying his reputation as a reliable target.

The California native will officially enter the transfer portal on January 2, positioning himself as one of the premier wide receiver prospects in the country. As the Longhorns prepare for their Citrus Bowl matchup against No. 18 Michigan, the team will look to capitalize on its remaining roster while facing the challenge of Moore’s departure. This transition presents an opportunity for both Moore and Texas to pursue new prospects and growth in their respective journeys.
