The RT Xtreme Taekwondo Summer Camp at Sanatan Hall on Rewa Street has seen remarkable success this year, with participation surpassing 50 students during its four-day run. Under the guidance of head instructor Pranit Kumar and visiting Grand Master Andy Rutten from Adelaide, the camp provided a unique opportunity for attendees to deepen their understanding of the martial art.
This year’s camp marked its third iteration, expanding from the previous two-day format to a full four days to accommodate the growing interest in Taekwondo. Kumar expressed his pride in the camp’s growth, stating, “When we started our first summer camp last year with just 20 students, I’m happy to report we have more than doubled that to over 50 participants this year, which is excellent progress for our camp.”
The central aim of the camp was to foster student development, particularly for those at lower belt levels. “It’s wonderful to see the passion these kids have for the sport,” Kumar remarked. The curriculum incorporated a mix of modern techniques and traditional Taekwondo teachings, allowing participants to gain valuable insights from Grand Master Rutten’s vast experience.
Kumar further underlined the significance of self-defense in Taekwondo, highlighting how the skills taught can be beneficial in numerous real-life situations.
As the summer camp draws to a close today, it has not only impacted the participants but also sparked a greater interest in Taekwondo within the community, promising a bright future for the sport locally. This engagement reflects the growing enthusiasm for martial arts, nurturing the next generation of practitioners and advocates.
