In a heartfelt revelation, Tom Brady shares his childhood admiration for the San Francisco 49ers in the upcoming docuseries “Rise of the 49ers.” An exclusive preview of the documentary features a young Brady donning 49ers gear, showcasing the deep roots of his passion for football.

Brady, who has achieved legendary status with seven Super Bowl victories, recounts how having family season tickets to the 49ers cultivated his love for the game. Growing up in San Mateo, California, just a stone’s throw from Candlestick Park, Brady reminisces, “We had four season tickets and we made our entire Sunday out of going to the 49ers games. I grew up with the 49ers and their dynasty — the dynasty that changed the NFL forever.”

The documentary paints a vivid picture of Brady’s early experiences, including attending the dramatic 1981 NFC Championship game where he famously struggled to see over the crowd, crying in his mother’s arms. The 49ers’ impressive lineup at the time, featuring legends like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, further fueled his aspirations.

Throughout his illustrious career, spanning over two decades, Brady emerged as one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks. Following his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, he was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2000, where he spent 20 seasons before a three-season stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His remarkable journey recorded six Super Bowl wins with the Patriots and one with the Buccaneers, culminating in his retirement in 2023.

Now, as a father and a devoted fan, he not only narrates “Rise of the 49ers” but also co-produces the series alongside AMC Studios and Skydance Sports, NFL Films, and Religion of Sports. The first two episodes will premiere on February 1, with the final episodes on February 2, promising a nostalgic dive into both Brady’s journey and the storied history of the 49ers.

This project reflects not only Brady’s affection for the team but also offers fans a glimpse into his formative years and the indelible impact the 49ers had on his life and career.
