Suva FC Ready for OFC Men’s Futsal Championship Kickoff on Home Turf

Fresh off their victory in the Extra Futsal IDC last month, Suva FC is entering the OFC Men’s Futsal Championship with a surge of momentum as the tournament commenced today at the Vodafone Arena.

Historically, Suva FC has participated in all three previous editions of the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League but has yet to achieve a finish higher than fifth place. However, this year the squad appears well-prepared, having undergone two weeks of intensive training. Coach Vivek Nadan is optimistic about the team’s development, noting that they have settled into their roles nicely and are ready for the regional competition.

Drawing on the experience gained from their last two appearances in the tournament, Suva aims to leverage the skills of the squad, which boasts eight current national representatives and several former internationals, positioning them as one of the club’s most experienced line-ups. The team, under the captaincy of Filipe Baravilala, is confident and eager to perform well in front of their home fans.

Nadan has also urged supporters to fill the arena and provide an encouraging atmosphere for the players. Suva’s campaign kicks off tonight against Southern Legions FC at 7 p.m., and they are gearing up for a demanding week ahead, facing tough opponents like Gulf Komara Futsal Club, Mataks FC, Waikato Rapids, and AS PTT.

Suva FC’s recent triumph in the Extra Supermarket Fiji National Futsal League, where they defeated Nadi Futsal 3-2 in the final, further boosts their confidence as they seek to improve upon their past performances in the OFC tournament. As they prepare to make their mark this season, the team aims to build on the progress made during the league and hopes that the home advantage will support them in achieving their goals.
