Sheffield United has successfully moved out of the relegation zone, and head coach Chris Wilder is urging his team to focus on consistency not only in their results but also, crucially, in their performance levels. The Blades are set to face Leicester on Saturday at 12:30 GMT, and a third consecutive league victory could propel them to 18th place in the Championship standings.
Wilder’s side achieved a significant 3-0 victory over Portsmouth on Tuesday, marking only their second instance this season of back-to-back wins in the 2025-26 campaign. “I’ve said it to the players; the biggest compliment we can receive—myself, the coaches, and the club—is that opponents know what to expect when they play Sheffield United,” Wilder stated. He believes the team is beginning to find its identity on the field.
While acknowledging that results may not always come as desired, Wilder emphasized the importance of striving for performance ratings of seven or eight out of ten from his players. “We don’t want a nine or a four; we want to avoid fluctuations in performance, like we experienced in some recent games,” he said, referring to the disappointing loss against Preston earlier this season.
Consistency remains a pivotal goal for Sheffield United as they aim to solidify their position in the league and continue climbing the table. With strong camaraderie and determination, there’s hope that the team can maintain this upward trajectory as they face challenging opponents ahead.
