Self-reflection is essential for effective leadership, according to Ana Laqeretabua, a partner at the Leaders LEAD Symposium currently taking place in Nadi.

Speaking to participants, Laqeretabua emphasized the importance of intentional self-reflection for leaders regarding both their identity and their approach to leading. She acknowledged the challenges leaders face due to demanding schedules but underscored the necessity of carving out time for reflection to ensure their leadership positively influences communities.

“Our vision is for people-centred, values-based leadership, but it’s also for leadership that’s lived — that we don’t just talk about leadership, we live it. And if we’re doing that, then we’re showing how we’re doing it, and that’s part of why this was set up,” she stated.

The three-day symposium aims to help leaders recognize their responsibilities and enhance their leadership strategies. Laqeretabua highlighted that effective leadership comes with significant responsibilities, making ongoing personal and professional development crucial for those dedicated to leading successfully.

She further encouraged attendees to immerse themselves in the lessons provided during the symposium and apply them in ways that meaningfully contribute to society, fostering a brighter future through engaged and reflective leadership.
