Members of the media industry came together over the weekend for a vital counseling session led by Elenoa Lesuma, a counselor based in Australia. The event was organized by the Fijian Media Association in collaboration with BBC Media Action, emphasizing the critical need for journalists to prioritize their mental health.

During the session, journalists were reminded of the significance of taking “self-time” to help recover from the trauma they may encounter in the line of duty. Mrs. Lesuma highlighted the essential role that journalists play in society and stressed that taking care of their mental well-being is crucial not only for their own health but also for the quality of journalism.

This initiative underscores the ongoing recognition of the pressures faced by media professionals and reflects a growing commitment within the industry to support their well-being. By addressing mental health challenges, journalists can better serve their communities and ensure that they continue to provide crucial information with clarity and integrity.
