Back Lot Music has launched a new soundtrack album for the biographical musical drama “Song Sung Blue.” This album showcases the film’s original score, crafted by renowned composer Scott Bomar, known for his work on films such as “Black Snake Moan,” “Dolemite Is My Name,” “Hustle & Flow,” and “Mississippi Grind.” The soundtrack is available for streaming and download on platforms like Amazon and other major digital music services, allowing fans to enjoy both the composer’s first and final tracks.

Previously, in December, the label released an album featuring Neil Diamond songs produced by Bomar, which are also prominent in the movie. “Song Sung Blue,” written and directed by Craig Brewer, features a talented cast including Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson, Michael Imperioli, and Fisher Stevens, among others. The film tells the uplifting story of two struggling musicians who come together to form a spirited Neil Diamond tribute band. Released in theaters nationwide last December by Focus Features, the film is now accessible for purchase on VOD and also streaming on Peacock. Fans can look forward to the film’s release on Blu-ray and DVD, scheduled for February 17.

The soundtrack includes a total of 14 tracks, highlighting the emotional and narrative depth of the film. Notable tracks are “Nostalgia Pays/Get ‘Em Clappin’,” “Hope Is Hard,” and “This Is Hard,” each contributing to the film’s overall hauntingly beautiful score. This serves as a testament to Bomar’s ability to complement the film’s story through music, enhancing its emotional resonance. As audiences await the physical release of the film, the soundtrack offers a way to connect with its uplifting themes and vibrant storytelling.
