Labasa FC head coach Alvin Chand expressed his pride in his players following their narrow defeat in the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion Series, where they lost to Rewa FC with an aggregate score of 1-0. The final clash, held at Subrail Park, ended in a 0-0 draw, which was not enough to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg.

Chand commended his team’s fighting spirit, particularly in front of their home supporters. They matched Rewa’s intensity and managed to keep the defending champions from finding the back of the net throughout the match. “I’m proud of my boys. They gave everything out there and showed real commitment, but unfortunately, the first-leg result made the difference,” Chand stated.

Throughout the second leg, the Babasiga Lions relentlessly pursued the goal needed to equalize the aggregate score. Despite their efforts, Rewa’s solid defense held firm, allowing them to retain the title.

Looking to the future, Chand remains optimistic about his team’s performance, suggesting that their resilience, discipline, and determination displayed against one of the nation’s top teams signal promising prospects for the upcoming season. This strong display reinforces the potential Labasa FC has as they prepare for future competitions.
