Will Clapp, a seasoned NFL center, has decided to retire from professional football at the age of 30 after seven seasons in the league. He made the announcement on Wednesday through an emotional Instagram post, expressing gratitude towards his wife, Lizzie, for her unwavering support throughout his career.

Clapp’s post included a heartfelt caption, thanking his wife for being his “rock” from the beginning to the end of his journey and shared a gallery featuring moments from their 15 years together. His retirement comes on the heels of a significant injury he sustained during the 2025 preseason while playing for the New Orleans Saints—a Lisfranc injury that ultimately required season-ending surgery.

The New Orleans Saints selected Clapp in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. He spent his formative years with the Saints before having short tenures with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Buffalo Bills. Notably, Clapp became the Chargers’ starting center in 2023 after the team’s starter, Corey Linsley, was sidelined due to injury.

In a twist of fate, Clapp re-signed with the Saints in March 2025, allowing him to conclude his career with the team that gave him his start in the NFL. As he transitions into the next chapter of his life, the future appears bright for Clapp, filled with opportunities to pursue his passions off the field.
