Rory McIlroy solidified his legacy in professional golf in 2025 by donning the coveted Green Jacket at The Masters, an achievement that placed him among an elite group of just six players in history to accomplish a Career Grand Slam. The Northern Irish golfer’s stellar performance extended beyond the major championship as he also led the victorious team in an away Ryder Cup, adding to a series of wins on the global stage.

As he prepares for the 2026 season, McIlroy has made significant changes to his golf equipment, while maintaining his longstanding relationship with TaylorMade, a partnership that has flourished since 2017. McIlroy’s latest setup reflects a blend of innovation and tradition, showcasing new drivers, fairway woods, and irons.

In the driver category, McIlroy transitioned from the TaylorMade Qi10 to the newer Qi4D model in November 2025. The Qi4D driver, which complies with the USGA’s Conforming List, features a lightweight grey face with additional markers for improved ball framing during address. He maintains a 9° head set closer to 8°, paired with the popular Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft.

For his fairway woods, McIlroy has opted for TaylorMade’s Qi4D in both 3-wood and 5-wood configurations, registering at 15° and 18°, respectively. This setup mirrors the configuration he successfully used during his Masters triumph earlier in the year and is expected to remain a staple throughout the 2026 season, aided by the continued support of the Fujikura Ventus shafts.

A noteworthy alteration comes in the form of McIlroy’s irons, as he makes the switch from TaylorMade Rors Protos to P7CB models. This is a significant departure as it marks the first time he has not utilized a blade-style iron in his bag. He has been seen employing the P7CB from 5-iron to 9-iron during various events, with the addition of the TaylorMade P760 4-iron still retained in his collection.

In the scoring department, McIlroy continues to rely on his TaylorMade MG5 wedges, in loft configurations of 46°, 50°, 54°, and a slightly altered 60°, which he has adjusted to 61° for improved turf interaction. This adjustment aims to enhance his precision for short wedge shots, an area where he has aimed to improve.

On the greens, McIlroy’s weapon of choice is the TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter, recognized as one of the premier putters in golf. His successful performance on the greens has significantly improved his Strokes Gained Putting metrics, elevating him from 59th to 9th in just one season of use.

Additionally, McIlroy made a strategic switch in golf balls prior to the 2025 season, moving from the TaylorMade TP5x to the TP5. This change complemented his game, as he noted a more favorable launch angle without sacrificing spin rates, which corresponded with his breakthrough performances.

Complementing his technical gear, McIlroy sports Nike apparel and footwear, solidifying a partnership that dates back to a substantial contract initiation in 2013. As he gears up for another competitive year, McIlroy’s keen attention to detail in both equipment and appearance highlights his commitment to excellence in the sport.

As the 2026 season approaches, Rory McIlroy’s readiness speaks volumes about his dedication and adaptability, ensuring that he remains a formidable presence on the golf course.
